Funny pics from the past

While transferring pictures from my phone to my computer, I came across some pretty funny pictures of Madisen and Riley.

One night after dinner Madisen caught a glimpse of her reflection in the pasta pot. It's kind of a "fun house mirror" effect.

Balloon Adventure

Saturday morning we got up really early (5:30 a.m.) and took the kids to Prosser for the hot air balloon festival. We got there, picked up some breakfast, and then walked around the Prosser airport grounds watching some 30 balloons fill up and lift off. A good time was had by all. Barely any complaining, just cold feet. (Madisen was due for a new pair of tennis shoes, which she got later on in the day.)

I forgot my camera, but I took some shots with my phone.
There was even a Frosted Flakes balloon! They're GRRRRREAT!

This week...

This week was pretty eventful. Madisen had soccer practice on Tuesday, play date with her friend on Wednesday, eye exam and school open house on Thursday, sleep over on Friday and birthday party and soccer game on Saturday.

Riley had ballet on Wednesday, eye exam on Thursday and a birthday party on Saturday.

Obviously both girls stay very busy with school and all of the extra activities they have going on. So of course Matt and I stay very busy as well. Fortunately, or unfortunately?, Matt has been home all week to help out. They just finished a big job and didn't have enough work lined up for everyone to come in. He's been in touch with his union rep, and they say that they'll have him back to work sometime this coming week.

The eye exams went well. Madisen's prescription changed just a little, so we took her to Wal-Mart to pick out a new pair of glasses. They've got a great deal right now for kids lenses. Riley sees almost perfectly, much to her dismay. She really wanted glasses. So while we were at the store getting Maddie's glasses we picked up a demo pair of glasses (for $10) for Riley. She's in 7th heaven and swears that she can see better with them on.

Thank you Shannon, Casey, and Stacie, for coming and supporting Madisen at her game. She was very happy to have you all there.

We're off for another fun-filled week!

Soccer, Ballet and School

Fall activities are in full swing.

Madisen is enjoying 3rd grade, although she says it's hard. She loves having Mr. Griggs for a teacher.

Riley is really liking her new Pre-K teachers.

Madisen is playing soccer on a U-9 team this year. She had a game today. She actually took 5 shots on goal! She's really learning a lot, and learning very quickly.

Riley started ballet at the end of August. She absolutely loves the class and the opportunity to share the class with her cousin, Audrey.

Quilt

I started sewing in February of this year. I decided that I'd make a baby quilt for my niece, Michelle, who had a baby girl in March. This was my first attempt ever at such a feat, and I now have a great appreciation for all of the work that went into the quilts that were gifted to me for my girls. And a great big thank you to my mother in law, Kathy, for being my guide thru this process.

Camping 2008

Thanks to a few family members, we have photo memories of our camping trip in August. (I forgot my camera.)

Matt got to try his hand at skim boarding. Madisen got to sleep in the "girls" tent all week with 3 of her cousins. And Riley got to have a nail and snapping party in Aunt Shannon's tent. (Riley just recently learned how to snap and is now figuring out how to whistle.)

We had a great time and we were so glad that so many other family members were able to be there as well. For Matt, this was the first time in 6 years that he had been able to attend.

Giving it a go

I figured that I'd give blogging a go. It most likely will make me better at bringing my camera along with me. We'll see what happens.
